Composer & Arranger

From drum 'n' bass to choral commissions

Over the years, Richard has composed many pieces of music, ranging from commissioned choral works to drum 'n' bass to pop songs.

In 2025 he was commissioned by Historic Royal Palaces to write a choral piece to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Hampton Court. This was performed by 20 choirs local to the area in the courtyard of Hampton Court itself — a landmark moment in his composing career.

Choral arrangements for London City Voices

One of Richard's primary skills is in arranging existing songs into beautiful choral arrangements. For the first few years of London City Voices, the choir exclusively sang Richard's arrangements.

Once his son Ben joined the team in 2014, Richard taught him how to arrange, and now it's mostly a 50/50 split — with the occasional arrangement contributed by choir members who have received tuition from Richard and/or Ben.

You can browse videos of their arrangements on the choir's YouTube channel, or search for sheet music from both Richard and Ben available for sale on Sheet Music Plus.

Hampton Court Palace — 500th Anniversary

Commissioned by Historic Royal Palaces, Richard composed an original choral work to mark the 500th anniversary of Hampton Court Palace. The piece was performed by 20 local choirs in the palace's iconic courtyard — bringing together hundreds of voices in one of England's most storied settings.
